This summer, District 5-NW will conduct an international project that will showcase the District and MD5 to Lions worldwide. Lions Badlands Adventure-2008. The MD-5 Lions International Youth Camp will be held on June 29th-July5th, 2008 at the Badlands Ministry Bible Camp located near Medora, North Dakota. It will bring together 2 youth from MD- and 20 youth from Denmark, Turkey, Italy, Austria, Israel, Finland, Belgium, Brazil, Hungary, Peru, Mongolia, Poland, Tunisia and Romania. The foreign students will stay an additional three weeks (prior to and after) with host families from South Dakota, North Dakota and Saskatchewan. Camp Coordinator Lion Chuck Whitney is asking the Districts of MD-5 Lions and their Clubs for a little assistance. many Lions camps have no fee. Our camp fee is $250.00 (US) which covers only about 40% of the cost of the Camp. If we all help a little, this international project will be a big success. The family hosting will run for 3 weeks, excluding the camp dates. Host will begin at the end of June and then carry on in July after the camp. The 20 foreign youth, ages 15-17, will come from Denmark, Turkey, Italy, Austria, Israel, Finland, Tunisia, Belgium, Brazil, Hungary, Peru, Mongolia, Poland and Romania. All will be anxious to learn about our culture, our people, and how we live, work and play. Host families agree to furnish lodging and food in the home during the three stay.
